6.4-mile Rogers Lake Run, Old Lyme, CT

Grassy Hill Road, Rogers Lake, Old Lyme, CT

This mid-length run takes you around quiet Rogers Lake in Old Lyme, CT. The residential areas and farmland are punctuated with trees and water. Chances are you will encounter deer, rabbits and farm animals.

You begin your run at the Lymes Senior Center/Town Woods Park on Town Woods Road. Leaving the park, you turn left onto Town Woods Road. Following Town Woods Road you almost immediately begin a long hill. The hill begins with a steeper portion and flattens out slightly after a few hundred meters to a steady low-angled climb. Approximately two miles in, the hill peaks and offers a steep downhill portion.

Follow Town Woods Road to the end where it turns into Bill Hill Rd. At this point, you will be greeted with pleasant farm scenes. A short way down Bill Hill you turn right onto Blood Street.

Blood Street offers some spots of winding roads and a series of rolling hills. At the end of Blood Street you will take a right onto Grassy Hill Road. This portion of Grassy Hill Road is relatively flat and offers some views of the lake.

When you reach the stop sign at the end of Grassy Hill, you will take a right onto Boston Post Road. A short bit later you will take a right back onto Town Woods Road and continue back to the Lymes Senior Center/Town Woods Park.

Rogers Lake, East Lyme, CT

There are no sidewalks on this route and many of the roads are narrow, so be aware of your surroundings and traffic.

Free parking is available at Town Woods Park at 26 Town Woods Road. The park closes at sundown.

Directions from points north:

Take Exit 71 off I-95 to Four Mile River Road. Take a right onto Four Mile River Road and follow for about a mile to Boston Post Road. Take a left on Boston Post Road. In two miles take a right onto Town Woods Road. The park will be on your left shortly after the first stop sign.

Directions from points south:

Take Exit 70 off of I-95. At end of exit take a left onto US-1/CT-156. In a half mile turn right onto Halls Road/US-1. Take a left onto Lyme St./US-1 in two miles followed by a quick left onto Town Woods Rd. The park will be on your left shortly after the first stop sign.
