River Road Run
5.5-mile Out and Back Run in Mystic, CT
This pleasant out and back run along Mystic River, which also serves as the course of the famous Tarzan Brown race, features a mostly flat route with views of Mystic Seaport, salt marshes, and boat launches. Well-known for its charming scenery, this route is a favorite for joggers and walkers.
Starting on Pearl Street, in front of Dinoto's Funeral Home, follow the road until you turn left onto Starr Street. Take the next right onto River Road. This is a very quaint area with interesting houses and a view of Mystic Seaport across the river.
You'll continue on River Road for a couple miles, passing under I-95. As you near the intersection of Route 27, your turnaround point, you'll jog through a quiet, wooded residential area. Running back the same way you came will give you a total of 5.5 miles for the course.
Parking in downtown Mystic can sometimes be problematic, but you can usually find street parking on side roads like Pearl Street.
Directions from from I-95:
Take Exit 89 (Allyn St.) proceeding south on Allyn Street toward Mystic. When you reach the traffic light at the intersection of Route 1, turn left. The fourth left down the hill is Pearl Street.
