Mohegan Park Run

1.5-mile Loop Run in Norwich, CT

Mohegan Park, located in Norwich, CT, boasts both paved footpaths and dirt trails through the woods. Some of the trails include challenging hills. While running through the woods you may encounter squirrels, chipmunks and a variety of birds. Spaulding Pond provides wonderful water views.

In this 1.5-mile loop, you can start at either parking lot in the park and pick up the paved trail. In this example, you will start at the parking lot off of Deerfield Drive. (Once you enter the parking lot, the playground will be up on a hill to the left.)

Heading toward the parking lot exit, you will take a left onto the trail entrance and head down the hill staying to the right when the trail forks and passing over a footbridge. Crossing Deerview Drive, you will continue onto the paved footpath connecting with Wilderness Road.

After a long steep climb up the sidewalk along Wilderness Road, you will take a right into Park Center Road, cross the parking lot, and then pick up the paved trail by Spaulding Pond, bearing left at the fork. The path will take you up and around the pond. Heading up a hill, you can take either fork. Finish the route by continuing down the sidewalk of Mohegan Park Road back to the parking lot.

Free parking is available in the parking lots within Mohegan Park.

Directions from the North:

Take 395S to exit 81. Merge on to Route 2 East towards Norwich. Turn right at Washington Street (Route 32 / Route 2). Turn left onto Mohegan Road. Turn left onto Mahan Drive and then right onto John Edward Drive. Take a right onto Wilderness Road. Turn left onto Mohegan Park Road and take a left into the Deerview parking lot.

Directions from the South:

Take 32/Mohegan Ave. to 395N. Take 81E to merge on to Route 2 East towards Norwich. Turn right at Washington Street (Route 32 / Route 2). Turn left onto Mohegan Road. Turn left onto Mahan Drive and then right onto John Edward Drive. Take a right onto Wilderness Road. Turn left onto Mohegan Park Road and take a left into the Deerview parking lot.

About Us

Jog New London County came into fruition when site co-founder and New London, CT resident Abi Cushman began training for her first marathon, the 2007 Marine Corps Marathon. She was joined in training and site preparation by P.A. Smith. To prevent boredom and lack of motivation during their training routine, Cushman and Smith began compiling different running routes in the Southeastern Connecticut area.
